How to Partition a USB Flash Drive macOS

As USB flash drives get larger and larger, you may find it useful to partition them into distinct drives. This can make it easier to organize your files, or allow you to boot from one partition and keep essential tools on another.
steps
1-Open Disk Utility. You can find this in the Utilities folder, located in your Applications folder.
2-Select your USB flash drive. It’s in the left panel.
3-Click the Partition icon on the toolbar. It’s the icon that looks like a pie chart at the top of the window.
4-Click Partition on the pop-up window.
5-Click + to add a new partition. It’s below the pie graph.
6-Drag the edges of the pie chart to adjust the partition size. If you already have data on the drive, the shaded area displays the amount of space on the drive it’s consuming. The unshaded area represents free space on the drive—this is what you’ll be turning into a new partition.
7-Enter a name for your new partition. Your new partition will show up on your Mac as its own drive. The name you enter here will be the name that represents the new “drive” on your Mac.
8-Select a file system format from the “Format” menu. This is up to you—if you want to use the drive on multiple operating systems, including Windows PCs, use ExFAT or FAT. Otherwise, choose APFS, which is the default Apple file system.
9-Click the + to add additional partitions. Continue adding partitions and adjusting their sizes until the drive contains all of the partitions you need.
10-Click Apply to create your new partitions. A confirmation message will appear.
11-Click Partition to confirm. This partitions your USB flash drive. When the process is complete, you can click Done to exit.
