Command used in this video:
sudo /Applications/Install OS X El Capitan.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia –volume /Volumes/OSX –applicationpath /Applications/Install OS X El Capitan.app –nointeraction

  1. [Update] If you would rather a graphical interface instead of working with text based commands, check out UUByte DMG Editor (https://bit.ly/3DSwYKO), which is capable of creating bootable macOS USB installer on both Mac and Windows platforms!!

  2. nope doesnt work at all. ui isnt even the same at all.

  10. Can't seem to get this to work got up to 2min.27sec but all i have is the InstallMacOSX.dmg file not El Captain as shown in the video? any pointers or work arounds

  11. the command isn't working

  12. Is the partition necessary? I Don't see it on my Mac, it has "RAID" next to the Erase tab

  13. Any reason why my downloaded OS Sierra is a .DMG file in the "Downloads" section of Finders an NOT inside applications? I can't go inside to "view contents"

  14. Hi iftibashir, I ran this on Big sur to create a bootdrive for my MBP 2009 and I'm getting a command not found error. Any way you can assist? Didn't work for me at the command line. Regards.

  23. hmmm the command given is different to that on the apple support page. Any support would be very appreciated

  24. Thanks for the instructions. Got it done and without any problems. The instructions were clear and simple to follow and I have now completed the job and am very happy. Thanks

  25. My terminal prompt keeps saying the command not found. Even with other install video codes. Help!

  26. I tried twice but both time received ERROR CODE 112. What should I do as this is a brand new 64GB USB ?

  27. The video is not complete. If you have already El Capitan on your iMac (making the bootable for a Macbook), it will not start automatically. Your first need to run the .dmg file. And then the .pkg file. Only then you have the .app file you need. Then also the partition option is greyed out on 2 16GB external USB sticks.

  28. Fab video the penny finally dropped put the iso in the applications as thats where the terminal script looks for it not the desk top.

  29. Well done on this video. It's concise which I like. Disc utility looked a little different on my sierra mac but was still able to blunder my way through the process and make a bootable usb drive that actually worked on the early 2008 imac that I just picked up for my mum today for AU$50. Thanks to you and a little effort from me she can now order her groceries on a 21.5 inch screen rather than an ipad screen which I think will make like a lot easier. Many thanks.

  30. Can you help? Whenever I copy and paste the command on the Terminal, it doesn't automatically input the password and it doesn't allow me to type it in manually. When I hit enter, it just says "Sorry, Try again" then says Password again.

  31. thank you sooo much!

  32. Hi. I have a mid 2012 MacBook Pro 13 inch, it won’t show my usb installer nor my ssd when I power on and option key, But when I do internet recovery mode (command R / option + command R) I see my ssd( new clean ssd) and my usb install drive.

The issue with internet recovery is that the Mac OS won’t finish downloading it just stops at any random times, sometimes it’s 2 minutes left, or 10 minutes etc..

This is so frustrating please help 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

  33. Worked for me -had to improvise a few things to follow the video whilst running OSX El Capitan. Thank you.

  34. The command line command doesn't work. Tells me "command not found"

  35. Everytime i try to install from USB it asks me to login to the app store to download additional components. This is ridiculous! Im trying to install from USB hence the reason i create one. If i turn off wifii it wont let me install it. Keeps asking for WIFI! If i login to the app store after an hour it reboots sits there doing nothing then tells me it cant install El Capitan on this machine. WTF?

  36. Can I achieve this using a basic computer (not apple) to upload the needed os software.

  37. if I install the macos from flash does this remove the old files? can I keep the files?

  38. Is this vennila method to boot?

  39. How important in the Partition part? My button is greyed out and it won't let me partition after I erased and reformatted my usb drive. Thanks
